Fearful of the coming conflict, surrounded by eerie shadows and mysterious noises, and increasingly uncertain of what she is told, Mehrosh starts to feel a growing paranoia that the people around her are not what they seem\u2026<br><em>Phantasmagoria<\/em>\u00a0explores the dangers of divisive politics and unbridled social media to show how fear can be manufactured and manipulated with chilling consequences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The dense text with its strong characters will be presented in April 2021 during the GLOBAL Festival of the independent Munich <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.teamtheater.de\/\" target=\"_blank\">Teamtheater Tankstelle<\/a>, together with other plays from Bavaria&#8217;s partner region Karnataka in India. The translation from English into German is supported by the Indian Embassy in Berlin and the Indian Councili for Cultural Relations (ICCR).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>About the playwright:<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Deepika Arwind is a theatremaker, playwright and performer based out of Bangalore, India. She works as the Artistic Director of The Lost Post Initiative (TLPI), a theatre and performing arts collective that works with diverse artists, largely around gender and women on stage.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>She is a scholar of the Internationales Forum at Theatretreffen 2018, and presented her work at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts 2016 and Ballhaus Naunynstra\u00dfe, Berlin 2018.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>She has won and been nominated for several awards for her work, including The Hindu Playwright Award, the St\u00fcckemarkt Prize at Theatretreffen, and the Toto Award.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Her current touring works nationally and internationally are&nbsp;No Rest in the Kingdom&nbsp;(produced by Sandbox Collective) and&nbsp;i am not here&nbsp;(supported by Goethe-Institut \/ Max Mueller Bhavan, Bangalore).<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Her previous works, among others, include&nbsp;A Brief History of Your Hair&nbsp;(supported by India Foundations for the Arts) and&nbsp;Nobody Sleeps Alone.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>She is author of the children&#8217;s book&nbsp;Sarayu&nbsp;(published by Le Cosmographe \u00c9ditions, France, 2018).<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What do playwrights elsewhere write about?
