Just before Christmas, we invite you to a special staged reading in the Tschechische Zentrum Berlin as part of Ein St\u00fcck: Tschechien, the Christmas Edition<\/strong>. In Prager Jesulein<\/em> (Infant Jesus of Prague<\/em>), Czech dramatist Roman Sikora satirises the Christmas story and relocates it to the Czech Republic in the present day. Joseph and Maria live in a Moravian village. First Joseph loses his job, then he and Maria also lose their apartment. Hoping for a better life, they go to Prague\u2026 A staged reading with plenty of Christmas songs that describe a very a different reality to the one in the play.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the same time, the newly published book, Roman Sikora: Fr\u00fchst\u00fcck mit Leviathan. Theaterst\u00fccke <\/em>(Berlin: Neofelis, 2021, ed. by Barbora Schnelle) will be presented. Aftercompleting his training as an electrician and mechanic, Roman Sikora <\/strong>worked at the steelworks in his hometown of T\u0159inec, before he studied directing and dramaturgy at the Jan\u00e1\u010dek Academy for Music and the Performaing Arts in Brno. Today he works as a freelance playwright and theatre critic, translates from Polish (e.g. Ma\u0142gorzata Sikorska-Miszczuk) and teaches playwriting at the faculty of theatre at the Academy of Musical Arts in Prague.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sikora\u2019s plays have been translated into many languages and performed internationally.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
