New Teaching Experience

The first block of Business English lessons at the mediacampus frankfurt is over. This is a business college for students who aspire to be working in the book trade. The campus is located beautifully outside of Frankfurt am Main on the Lohrberg. I was delighted to find that this hill features a vineyard!

It was a new experience for me, as I hadn’t dealt with vocational students before, but instead had taught either at universities or in thematic workshops. I was able to learn a lot about the intricacies of the business and the realities of publishing from these future booksellers and media clerks, and together we explored, how all that is reflected in the English jargon. We were able to have interesting discussions about the different processes within the respective companies the apprentices work at, and also about the fine and blurred boundaries of literary genres, just to name a few topics. I’m looking forward to the next meeting in June.
