on 19 Dec 2013, 7 pm, at MIME CENTRUM, Kunstquartier Bethanien, Mariannenplatz 2, 10997 Berlin
Jolanta Janiczak is regarded as the shooting star among Polish young dramatists. Her play "Caryca Katarzyn" (Tsarina Catarina) is nominated for the most highly esteemed playwrights award in Poland. When her play "Joanny Szalonej; Królowej" (Joan the Mad, Queen) will be presented at the MIME CENTRUM's "Theatersalon", it will be the first time that one of her plays is introduced in German translation.
Andreas Volk is a translator of contemporary Polish literature, including more than twenty plays. He was part of the team Literatur polska2000 in Krakow, held a scholarship of Villa Decius, and coordinated the "literary studies" project at Collegium Polonicum in S?ubice in 2009-2011. He is an editor of the German-Polish-Ukrainian "radar" literary magazine, which is published in Krakow; in addition, he is a co-founder of the German-Polish translation almanac „OderÜbersetzen“. In 2013, he received the translators award of the Association of Polish playwrights and stage composers "Zaiks".
Together, both of them will present insights into current tendencies of Polish dramatic literature.
