In their mutual production, Drama Panorama and St. Petersburg Teatr Pokoleniy devote themselves to the topic of the 1941 Leningrad Blockade by the German Wehrmacht and its victims. In Germany, this severe Wehrmacht war crime rarely finds attention while in Russia,

the siege of 871 days with its one million hunger victims is forged into a heroic narraction. The production (directed by Eberhard Köhler) relates 67 stories from interviews, private documents, and historical research to explore the difference in the event’s presentation and in aspects of historiography.

The production sees its world premiere at the Berlin Theater unterm Dach on the anniversary day of the beginning of the blockade, on Friday, 08 September 2017. The performances in Russia will commence on the anniversary day of the liberation of Leningrad (today St. Petersburg) on 27 January 2018.

An interview with director Eberhard Köhler has been published in Neues Deutschland (in German).

Ticket reservations can be made through Theater unterm Dach.
