Guest performance by Lachende Bestien
The New Czech Theatre Festival 2023
Sunday, 12 November, 2023 | 8 pm
Theater unterm Dach, Danziger Str. 101, 10405 Berlin
Michael Kohlhaas, Kleist’s hero, breaks the law and takes to violence in his struggle for justice. The Lachende Bestien theatre company explodes the confinements of interpretation and comments on the plot. How to deal with injustice? And can there be a justification for violence?
With Kohlhaas, Lachende Bestien further pursue their line of playwright’s theatre pointing out, making strange, and corrupting the clear boundaries between the personal and the political. Based on Brechtian principles, the company playfully interprets the text of the play, making the theatre itself the material of their game.
