VERBRANNTES LAND by Eve Leigh

I discovered Eve Leigh’s text SALTY IRINA in 2018 and immediately recommended it to the right people. There was no interest at the time. However, I was able to translate two other texts by this impressive playwright, who often deals with queer and political issues in her subversive, occasionally mysterious, sometimes abysmal narrative style. This piece is no exception.

Tobias Herzberg will now stage the text for three women at Schauspielhaus Wien and give it its German-language premiere on March 15, 2025. I finally get to translate it after all. Sometimes things just take time. I am grateful and very happy. In German, the play is now called VERBRANNTES LAND and is represented by Rowohlt Theater.
