Portraits on Eurodram website
The website of the German Eurodram committee is moving ahead. My own introduction of Małgorzata Sikorska-Miszczuk’s THE SUITCASE opens the series of portraits of the three selected plays, playwrights, and translators which will be continued in time.
We also mention announcements of the scheduled events in Mannheim and Vienna. With this, as well as with the introductions, we will continue to harvest teh fruit of our work and make it accessible to the public according to the Eurodram mission: we aim to gain more attention and raise interest for international drama in translation that has not been produced on German stages to date. Next year, we will look at German drama that we feel should have more attention in other European countries. As much as we can, we work away from the support of beacons and the circulation of already known texts, focussing more on work that was not able to raise appropriate interest internationally despite its high quality.
We will also look more closely at the texts that did not make it among the top three favourites while they, too, are of high literary and theatrical quality and were thoroughly discussed among the committee – ideally until the readings in Mannheim and Vienna. Therefore, frequent visits or subscribing to the German site http://eurodram.wordpress.com are recommended.
